Joanna Patton,
from the Wirral, is aged 24 and studied at Chetham’s School of Music and the
Royal Northern College of Music with John Reynolds and Nicholas Cox. She is
currently enjoying a busy career being in great demand, both as an orchestral
clarinettist with major orchestras, and also as a solo performer.
Recitals
include appearances at the 1998 Ryedale Festival and the recent ISCM Festival
in Manchester from which she has just recorded her first CD of David Ellis’
music. She has also performed numerous concertos with various orchestras
including the Tomasi Concerto at the Aix-en-Provence Festival, the Mozart
Concerto with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic and RNCM Chamber Orchestra, and
the Finzi Concerto with the London Symphony Orchestra as part of the Shell/LSO
Scholarship Final.
Joanna also
works regularly with orchestras such as the RLPO, the Northern Sinfonia and the
Halle Orchestra with whom she visited the Salzburg festival, which resulted in
an award winning CD of Messiaen’s St.Francis of Assisi under Kent Nagano.
In 1999 Joanna
was invited to join the teaching staff at Chetham’s School of Music,
Manchester.
