Joanna Patton, from the Wirral, is aged 24 and studied at Chetham’s School of Music and the Royal Northern College of Music with John Reynolds and Nicholas Cox. She is currently enjoying a busy career being in great demand, both as an orchestral clarinettist with major orchestras, and also as a solo performer.

Recitals include appearances at the 1998 Ryedale Festival and the recent ISCM Festival in Manchester from which she has just recorded her first CD of David Ellis’ music. She has also performed numerous concertos with various orchestras including the Tomasi Concerto at the Aix-en-Provence Festival, the Mozart Concerto with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic and RNCM Chamber Orchestra, and the Finzi Concerto with the London Symphony Orchestra as part of the Shell/LSO Scholarship Final.

Joanna also works regularly with orchestras such as the RLPO, the Northern Sinfonia and the Halle Orchestra with whom she visited the Salzburg festival, which resulted in an award winning CD of Messiaen’s St.Francis of Assisi under Kent Nagano.

In 1999 Joanna was invited to join the teaching staff at Chetham’s School of Music, Manchester.
