Sophie Gates – violin

Sophie is seventeen years of age and joined the Symphony orchestra in September 2000. She is also a first violin in the Wrexham County Senior String Ensemble and she has recently sat her Grade Seven violin examination and already holds her Grade Five in Piano and theory.

She is currently studying for her ‘A’ levels in Yale College after passing four A/S levels in Summer 2001. In September 2002 Sophie hopes to study Geography at degree level.

Sophie is also a member of the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme and she has completed her bronze and silver awards and is currently working towards her gold award with Yale.
