Steven Wilkie - Violin soloist

 

Born and bred in Edinburgh, Steven Wilkie was a pupil at St. Mary's Music School. From 1987 he studied with Yossi Zivoni at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, and as a student he was awarded two Caird Scholarships and the Bloch LRAM Prize for the "most outstanding String Player".

 

Steven is now one of the foremost freelance musicians in the region appearing regularly with all the major Symphony Orchestras.

 

He is in increasing demand as a soloist, and his recent concerto performances include the Bach Concerto for Violin and Oboe, the Bruch, Mendelssohn and Dvorak concertos.

 

He has been invited to lead many orchestras including the West end Concert Orchestra, the London Musicians Orchestra and the Manchester Concert Orchestra.

 

An active chamber musician, Steven's Duo partnership with pianist David Lloyd has flourished over ten years and they appear together in concert throughout the British Isles.

 

Steven now teaches the violin at the Royal Northern College of Music.
