WREXHAM SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA
Teleri-Siān is currently in her fourth and final year at the
Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester. She started playing the piano at
the age of three, her first piano teacher was her father (the tuba player in
this performance!) and from 1992-1996 she was a junior student at the R.N.C.M.
where she studied with her present tutor, John Gough. In addition to winning a
number of prizes and scholarships at the junior department at the R.N.C.M. on
completion of her second year as a full time student Teleri-Siān was awarded
the Marjorie Clementi Memorial Prize for the most promising second year
student.
She
is very much in demand as a soloist and has participated successfully in
competitions throughout the United Kingdom. She has won the Instrumental Blue
Riband at the National Eisteddfod of Wales, has performed Shostakovich's Second
Piano Concerto in Blackburn and in 1997 she was the soloist in Grieg's Piano
Concerto with the Rocky Mountain Symphony Orchestra in Lakewood, Colorado.
In
October 1998, Teleri-Siān was appointed International Artistic Ambassador by
the People to People International Association and a piece was commissioned for
her to mark the occasion. Her next engagement in this role will be in Hong Kong
in November 2000.
When
time permits, Teleri-Siān enjoys reading, swimming and philosophy. She is
fluent in four languages - Welsh, English, French and Italian and is a great
lover of animals - especially cats!
